Is 8 km long and includes beaches that are a reference worldwide for the practice of this sport, such as Ribeira de Ilhas, Baía dos Dois Irmãos, known by the community as Coxos, Empa beach, in front of the village and São Lourenço beach. The diversity of waves allows for various degrees of difficulty and, therefore, excellent conditions for practicing board sports, whether professional or beginner. The most challenging waves are Pedra Branca, Reef, Ribeira d'Ilhas, Cave, Crazy Left, Coxos and São Lourenço.

The Algarve has several excellent surfing beaches for both experienced surfers and beginners. From Castelejo in Vila do Bispo, through Porto de Mós in Lagos to Ancão in Almancil, each beach offers unique experiences for surf lovers.

With beaches for surfers of all levels, in Lagos you can find Praia do Porto de Mós, located near the center of Lagos, with consistent waves and good exposure to the wind and Praia do Burgau, located to the west of Lagos, Praia do Burgau has gentler waves and is ideal for beginners and for practicing not only surfing but also bodyboarding.
Almancil beaches
Although there are no beaches with such big waves, there are some surfing spots, such as Praia do Ancão, which is mainly frequented by local surfers. Its waves are smaller, but still provide fun for beginners and experienced surfers, or Praia do Garrão, which has gentler waves for beginner surfers.
